Sri Krishna and Steve Jobs
Who is Sri Krishna? Who is God? What is God? And what does Steve Jobs have anything to do with this? The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines God as the supreme or ultimate reality, the Being perfect in power, wisdom, and goodness who is worshipped as creator and ruler of the universe, and the incorporeal (defined as having no material body or form) divine Principle ruling over all as eternal Spirit. This supports what the Vedic scriptures of India have told us for 5,000 years. The Upanisads say:
nityo nityanam cetanas cetananam
eko yo bahunam vidadhati kaman
“The Supreme Lord is eternal and the living beings are eternal. The Supreme Lord is cognizant and the living beings are cognizant. The difference is that the Supreme Lord is supplying all the necessities of life for the many living entities” (Katha Upanisad 2.2.13). In reference to God having no material body or form:
avajānanti māṁ mūḍhā mānuṣīṁ tanum āśritam
paraṁ bhāvam ajānanto mama bhūta-maheśvaram
“Not knowing the transcendental nature of My form of human features, ignorant persons blaspheme Me, the Supreme Lord of all beings, considering Me a mere mortal” (Bhagavad Gita 9.11). The Supreme Personality of Godhead is known as Sri Krishna. Sri Krishna is the fountainhead of Absolute Truth. Due to the West’s lack of available education in this sphere of understanding, some of us may find it difficult to conceive of God as having His own distinct form and personality while also fulfilling His mighty role as the creator, maintainer, and destroyer of the entire creation. With the unassuming help of Steve Jobs, this can be rectified.
Steve Jobs is a founder of Apple. More or less, he created the infrastructure of the Apple universe and was responsible for any fruit that the Apple tree bore. If Steve was still alive, he could maintain his duties as CEO while having the ability to personally be with you in an Apple store. Similarly, even though the Supreme Lord is the cause of all causes and maintains the entire creation, He is not restricted from being personally manifested.
The difference is that Steve’s authority is relative and temporary. His influence could only reach so far, and after his passing, the infrastructure of the Apple universe may be changed. But Krishna cannot be replaced. He is eternal. He is absolute. Being omnipresent, present in all places at all times, omniscient, possessed of universal or complete knowledge, and omnipotent, having unlimited power or authority, His position as the Absolute Truth is eternally established. His identity as the Supreme Person, who wants nothing more than for us to lovingly remember and serve Him and His devotees in every aspect of our lives, is eternally relevant.
